Pruning & Removal
Street Tree Pruning and/or Removal
The City of Hamilton's Tree Ordinance requires that property owners obtain written approval from the City prior to pruning and/or removal of any tree located in the public right-of-way (typically, this is the area between the curb and the sidewalk). There is no charge for the application to prune or remove a street tree.
Prior to any tree pruning and/or removal, please complete and return the application to:
Municipal Arborist/Utility Forester
City of Hamilton
345 High Street, Suite 450
Hamilton, Ohio 45011
If the application for street tree pruning and/or removal is approved it will be necessary to obtain a Right-of-Way Permit issued by the City of Hamilton Public Works Department. A free permit to work in the City right-of-way must be obtained from the Department of Public Works office Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Office is located at 345 High Street, Suite 450. Please call 785-7277 or email Dan.Snyder@hamilton-oh.gov for Dan Snyder, Engineering.
