Board of Revisions of Assessments.

The Board of Revisions of Assessments hears all claims and objections regarding improvements to be paid for in part or in whole by special assessments.  This board consists of the Mayor, Director of Finance, and a designee of the City Manager, meeting from time to time as required.  The board reviews petitions to vacate right-of-way (streets, alleys), and petitions for the renaming of streets and alleys.

Regular Board Meetings.

All meetings are open to the public.  This posting serves as notice of public meeting for the Board of Revisions of Assessments.  Posting of the meeting agenda through the city website also serves as notice of public meeting.

Agenda & Meeting Minutes

Street Vacation / Alley Vacation.

The first step for a street vacation or alley vacation is to contact the City Clerk. An applicant must send a petition for vacating a section of street or alley, with a $50 fee. For further details, please review this PDF document of the vacation process: [Here]

After this, there is an appraisal of the street or alley in question, at the applicant’s expense. Once the applicant pays two-thirds (2/3rds) of the appraised value of the street or alley, the Board of Revisions of Assessments schedules a hearing on whether to recommend City Council vacate the street or alley.

Street Renaming.

The process for a street renaming is similar to the vacation of a street or alley.  The first step is a petition to rename through the City Clerk, with a $50 fee.

For further details, please review this PDF document of the renaming process: [Here]

The Board of Revisions of Assessments reviews the street renaming proposal and schedules a hearing on whether to recommend that City Council schedule the meeting.
