Basic Requirements


  • Minimum of 20 ½ at time of exam. Must be 21 at time of appointment.
  • Uncorrected total vision must be at least 20/250; corrected total vision of 20/20. Vision requirement will be verified for finalist(s).
  • Ohio GED or high school diploma/transcript or college degree Assoc. Deg. at minimum) · Home schooled applicants must obtain and present GED proof prior to the written exam.
  • U.S. citizen or currently in the process of applying for U.S. citizenship; US Citizenship must be obtained prior to appointment
  • Possession of a valid Ohio Operator's License prior to appointment, but the person may take the entry examination prior to obtaining such license.

The Hamilton Police Department does not utilize lateral entry at this time.
